Gladney Home

A healing home for girls in foster care, built on compassion, community, and connection.

When Edna Gladney began her work, she opened her own home as a safe haven for children awaiting placement. Today, the Gladney Home stands as a living pillar of that legacy—honoring her trailblazing spirit as we provide healing and hope to youth who need it most.

A Safe and Supportive Place to Grow

The Gladney Home is a residential program serving pre-teen and teen girls in Texas’ foster care system. Located on the Gladney campus in Fort Worth, the home offers safety, structure, and safety in a small, family-like community.

Our residents are typically:

  • Between the ages 12-19
  • In need of a therapeutic, home-like environment with strong support
  • Children dealing with a variety of diagnoses, including depression, adjustment disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, ADHD, autism, IDD, and post-traumatic stress disorder

Exploration and enrichment
Participation in extracurriculars—whether music, sports, art, or other interests—is encouraged to support growth, self-expression, and discovery.

Connection and community
While everyone has personal space, shared experiences like group meals, celebrations, and activities help build trust and belonging.

Consistent, caring adult presence
Trained staff are present around the clock, offering dependable support, guidance, and encouragement—much like trusted family members would—helping residents feel safe, seen, and valued.

Limited capacity
By capping our capacity at just 13 girls, the Gladney Home creates a close-knit, stable environment where staff can form meaningful, consistent relationships with each resident. This allows for the kind of personalized attention, accountability, and emotional safety often found within a traditional family—making this home as close to a true family unit as possible, without being one

The Gladney Home is designed to meet the needs of each resident with care, structure, and dignity—supporting healing today and preparing for success tomorrow.

Meeting an Urgent Need in Texas

In 2019, the State of Texas asked Gladney to help address the growing need for stable foster placements for teen girls. We answered that call by opening The Gladney Home—combining over a century of experience with a new vision for how we serve youth directly.

For some girls, the Gladney Home is a bridge to adoption. For others, it's a stepping stone to independence and adulthood. Every girl receives counseling, education support, life skills training, and unconditional support.

Creating Bright Futures

Every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported. Whether their path leads to adoption or independent living, our mission is to create lasting, positive change in their lives.

Meet The Staff

In addition to our leadership and support staff, our dedicated Residential Coordinators work directly with the youth in our care—providing daily structure, support, and encouragement.
