Opening doors for children through safe hosting, advocacy, and adoption.
What is a host family?
A host family provides waiting children from our partnering countries the experience of daily family life, love, and connection—while also exploring whether adoption may be part of their future story.
Who can host?
The program is open to host families in Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
If you're interesting in hosting a child from Colombia, Taiwan or Ecuador, take the first step and fill out the Hosting Application.

Why Host with Gladney?
For the Children
Hosting allows children the experience of life in a U.S. home. For many, it’s their first opportunity to build relationships that may lead to lasting family connections.
With more than 150 million children worldwide growing up without families—and adoption chances dropping sharply after age 5—hosting provides a rare and meaningful opportunity.
Trusted and Ethical
Gladney is recognized for providing the safest and most ethical host program in the U.S.
Cultural Experiences
Hosting provides a meaningful cultural learning opportunity, as the child experiences life in a new culture while the host family learns about the child's traditions and heritage, all while serving as advocates for the child's future.
Expert Support
Our dedicated International Team walks with you every step of the way, ensuring families have the best resources and guidance.
Home Study
Gladney prepares families with a Hague-compliant home study, making it easier to transition if they choose to pursue adoption.

Unlike children in domestic foster care, kids in Colombia, Taiwan and Ecuador rarely meet U.S. families. Hosting creates that opportunity—time together face-to-face that builds understanding, trust, and can open doors to lifelong connections.
Most children in the Hosting Program have grown up in institutions after being born into difficult circumstances. Some were placed in care due to poverty, family instability, neglect, or the loss of birth parents. As a result, children may have developmental delays in areas like speech, motor skills, or learning—but with the love, support, and structure of a family, many make remarkable progress.
Children who participate in hosting often have a bright prognosis when given the chance to belong to a permanent family. Even if your participation does not lead to adoption, hosting allows a child to experience family life, build connections, and begin the journey toward finding a forever family.

What to Expect
Support During the Process
The Hosting Program offers an educational and culturally rich experience for both children and host families. During their short stay, children participate in daily family life, cultural activities, and community events while receiving support from Gladney staff and chaperones.
At the end of the program, all children return to their home country with valuable experiences and relationships that can strengthen their chances of finding a permanent family.
For most children, it will be the first time they’ve experienced what it feels like to be part of a family. Hosting is a meaningful step toward improving the health, education, and well-being of waiting children.
Gladney’s team of coordinators, social workers, translators, and experienced host families will be by your side throughout the entire session.
Weekly group events and community connections ensure families and children feel supported, while chaperones—who know the children well—stay in homes to help ease transitions and address challenges.
You’ll also have the comfort of other host families nearby. We intentionally place children in close proximity to foster community, support, and shared experiences.
Hosting Colombia: Children from Colombia are waiting for the opportunity to experience family life. Hosting gives families interested in Colombia adoption the chance to connect face-to-face. If you’re considering adopting from Colombia, hosting may be the first step.
Hosting Taiwan: Children from Taiwan also participate in this program. Families considering Taiwan adoption—or those curious about adopting from Taiwan—can begin their journey by becoming a host family. Hosting allows you to connect with a child in a meaningful way while exploring the path to adopt from Taiwan.
Hosting Ecuador: Children from Ecuador are waiting for the chance to experience family life beyond the walls of an orphanage. Families can open their homes and hearts to a child, sharing daily life, laughter, and love. Hosting offers a meaningful way to learn about a child’s personality and dreams while discovering if adoption might be the right next step for your family. This experience creates lasting memories and opens doors—to understanding, compassion, and the possibility of forever.
Gladney invites you to open your home and your heart. Even if your participation does not lead to adoption, hosting allows a child to experience family life and begin their journey toward a permanent home.
Don’t miss this opportunity to become a host family and be part of a child’s story.
