Birth Parent Caseworker Position

The Birth Parent Caseworker is a valued team member with the passion to assist birth parents through their adoption plan from admission through placement with a loving family. Provides understanding and support to birth moms and families and adapts well to the changing needs. Is energized, motivated, and flexible to meet changing needs in these dynamic situations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Birthparent Case Worker offers professional social services, which encompasses services designed to ensure children are adopted to safe permanent families.
  • Filter inquiries and treats inquires as top priority providing warm handoffs for Expectant Mothers. Discern which inquiries should be handed off to Gladney Admissions.
  • Follows protocol in transferring Expectant Mothers and filtering all other inquiries.
  • Help Expectant Mothers fill out their first background application.
  • Collects information, identifies individual needs, and develops a comprehensive case management plan.
  • Establish a relationship of compassion and trust with Expectant Mothers
  • Facilitates between birth parents and prospective adoptive families.
  • Assists birth mother in finding necessary resources developing and utilizes all agency and community resources available at the federal, state and local levels.
  • Approaches birth mothers in a wholistic manner, focusing on her and the child’s needs.
  • Effectively finds alternative local resources sometime in varying geographical locations.
  • Problem solver who adapts well to changing needs, plans which may require evenings and weekends.
  • Travel is required and may account for 50% of the time.
  • Documents activities and time spent with clients in the case file, case management systems.
  • Facilitates child matching, placement, and post-placement supervision through adoption.
  • Maintains records of all adoption cases, close files, and seals adoption records
  • Report expectant mother inquiries, handoffs, and other monthly KPI’s.
  • Follows protocols in responding to all inquiries.
  • Complete home studies and post placement reports.
  • An empathetic builder of relationships, meeting birth moms and families where they are.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Increase Adoption.com Inquiry Conversion rate by coordinating with Adoption.com marketing team and Gladney Admissions team.
  • Respond to every inquiry and follow up when necessary and assists in tracking and analyzing each Expectant Mother touch point.
  • Provide feedback on how we can improve each Expectant Mother touch point.
  • Conducts profile reviews from the perspective of a Birth Mother for Gladney Diamond Families.
  • May write articles and scripts for videos and podcasts about Birth Mother issues. Speak in videos and podcasts about Birth Mother issues.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree in in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing or related field is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience with case management is preferred
  • Experience in client assessment and adoption counseling a preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel; Microsoft Teams
  • Valid/current driver’s license. Must be able to drive at night.
  • Travel is required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
