The Adoptive Parent Caseworker in the New Beginnings Program is a valued team member with the passion to assist Adoptive parents through their adoption plan from admission through placement and legal finalization. The team member has a high level of attention to detail, able to organize processes and meet ongoing deadlines.  This team member has the ability to offer provides understanding and support to families who are adopting and adapts well to the changing needs. The Adoptive Parent Caseworker is energized, self-motivated, and flexible to meet changing needs in these dynamic situations. This worker is able to use trauma-informed techniques to assist families with education and coaching as they learn to parent children who come from difficult backgrounds. 

Responsibilities:

  • The Adoptive Parent Case Worker offers professional services, supporting adoptive parents through the journey of adoption.  
  • Collects information, identifies individual needs, and develops a comprehensive case management plan. 
  • Develops trusted relationships with adoptive parents and counsels and guides them through the process. 
  • Coordinates the timely collection of necessary information, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.  
  • Develops and utilizes all agency and community resources available at the federal, state and local levels.  
  • Approaches adoptive family in a wholistic manner, focusing on theirs and the child’s strengths and needs. 
  • Problem solver who adapts well to changing needs, plans which may require evenings and weekends. 
  • Travel is required and may account for 30% of the time.  
  • Documents activities and time spent with clients in the case file, case management systems. 
  • Facilitates child matching, placement, and post-placement supervision through adoption. 
  • Strong advocate for his/her clients and Gladney, to reduce barriers placing children in loving families. 
  • Maintains accurate and appropriate records of all adoption cases, closed files, and seals adoption records. 
  • Complete home studies and post placement reports, meeting all agency and state imposed deadlines.  
  • An empathetic builder of relationships, meeting children and families where they are.   
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and interpersonal skills.  
  • Presenter and teacher of best practices in parenting children who have experienced trauma. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree.  Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field is preferred  
  • 2-5 years of experience with case management is preferred
  • Experience in client assessment and adoption counseling is preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel; Microsoft Teams 
  • Valid/current driver’s license. Must be able to drive at night
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
